Job Title: Senior Estimator
Salary: £50,000 £60,000 per year
Location: Cardiff (Hybrid & Office-Based)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 17: hours per week)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Estimator to support rapid growth in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector. This role is critical to ensuring accurate estimation of costs for retrofit and efficiency projects, while delivering competitive and profitable pricing strategies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of domestic energy efficiency solutions, excellent analytical skills, and a detail-oriented approach. As a key member of the team, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of your domain and play a pivotal role in driving success within a fast-growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates, covering materials, labour, and equipment.

  • Assess project specifications, drawings, and documentation to determine scope and cost implications.

  • Source and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.

  • Prepare comprehensive proposals, including cost breakdowns, timelines, and resource allocations.

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Collaborate with the Operational Board to review and approve estimates.

  • Monitor and adjust project costs throughout the lifecycle.

  • Work closely with project management, procurement, and sales teams to ensure seamless estimate delivery.

  • Stay informed on industry trends, material costs, and labour rates.

  • Refine estimating processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.

  • Proven experience as an estimator in energy efficiency, construction, or renewable energy sectors.

  • Strong knowledge of domestic energy efficiency solutions, technologies, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Proficiency in estimation software and tools (e.g., MS Excel, industry-specific platforms).

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, able to handle multiple projects.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to energy efficiency.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional certification in estimating (e.g., AACE, RICS).

  • Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).

  • Experience working within Local Authority or Social Housing markets.

  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices and energy efficiency measures.
