The role involves designing Excel-based tasks, creating reference solutions, and evaluating spreadsheet tasks in the context of IT management. Responsibilities Design realistic Excel-based tasks drawn from professional IT management experience Create tasks involving IT budgeting, software asset tracking, license reconciliation, cost analysis, capacity planning, vendor spend, reporting dashboards, or IT planning materials Use real-world judgment to make tasks realistic, practical, and aligned with how IT leaders use spreadsheets Ensure tasks are clear, well-structured, and appropriate for spreadsheet-based evaluation Write accurate, well-structured solutions for Excel-based IT management tasks Evaluate spreadsheet tasks and solutions for correctness, clarity, and analytical rigor Review formulas, workbook logic, assumptions, calculations, and outputs Provide clear written feedback that improves task quality and solution accuracy Apply strong Excel skills across nested formulas, lookups, dynamic arrays, PivotTables, dashboards, and built-in analytical tools Help define evaluation criteria for spreadsheet accuracy, structure, usability, and business relevance Collaborate with other subject-matter experts to maintain consistency and accuracy across submitted materials Translate IT management scenarios into precise spreadsheet instructions and expected outputs Skills 5+ years in an in-house IT management or leadership role where Excel is used regularly for analytical work Experience as an IT Manager, IT Director, IT Systems Manager, IT Infrastructure Manager, IT Program Manager, or comparable senior IT leader Demonstrable career progression into senior IT management Strong hands-on Excel proficiency, including nested formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, dynamic arrays, PivotTables, dashboards, and Excel's built-in analytical tools Experience using Excel for IT budgeting, license and cost reconciliation, software asset tracking, capacity planning, vendor management, and reporting Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong problem-solving skills and ability to explain spreadsheet logic clearly Reliable weekday availability for at least 20 hours per week depending on project scope Academic backgrounds in information technology, information systems, computer science, business administration, finance, data analysis, or related fields may be relevant Professional IT management experience and advanced Excel-based analytical work may be especially valuable Certifications or training in IT management, project management, Excel, analytics, cloud platforms, software asset management, or vendor management may also be relevant depending on project needs Experience with Power Query, Power Pivot, macros, VBA, or advanced spreadsheet automation Experience managing software licenses, SaaS spend, vendor contracts, IT budgets, cloud costs, hardware assets, or capacity planning models Experience creating dashboards, executive reports, reconciliation tools, or planning workbooks Familiarity with IT asset management, software asset management, financial planning, procurement, or vendor review processes Strong ability to turn real IT management scenarios into clear Excel tasks and evaluation rubrics Benefits Remote structure with competitive hourly compensation Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise Company Overview At 24-MAG, we support emerging AI and consulting platforms by sourcing and connecting qualified professionals with remote, contract-based opportunities.
