Personal Trainer & Group Fitness Coach.

About Us

For us, it's not about the cool new exercise from Instagram, or the latest Tik Tok challenge. It's about confident, strong movement, and making people feel more confident, stronger, and happier. It's about our desk warriors being better able to endure their days of zoom meetings and spreadsheets and still stand tall and move around without any trouble; our moms and dads being able to carry their kids around all day, every day; our 78 year old members still being able to get out and hike the Enchantments. People have lives outside the gym and we mean to help make those lives better.

We aren't forging elite fitness. We don't have framed jerseys on our walls of all the professional athletes we train. We have dedicated and hard working members who show up day in and day out, to get the best workouts, to help them live their best lives. Through our larger group sessions, Small Group Personal Training sessions, HIIT, strength... We are on a mission to make our members stronger, healthier, and happier.

Village Fitness opened its doors in October of 2020 - in the midst of covid. We navigated through covid restrictions, trained outside at 6:00am in the dead of winter, and we endured. We adapted. We kept showing up. And we are continuing to do just that. We are also growing - we have increased our overall membership base by more than 15% in every year of operation, and we expect to exceed that growth in

2026. We are constantly striving to improve what we do; from adding and improving services to obtaining new certifications and education. Just like we tell our members, the two biggest levers for success are commitment and consistency, and we follow that, too: we are committed to being better today than yesterday and we are showing up each day to act on it.

About this Opportunity

We're looking for 1-2 coaching rock stars - fitness coaching unicorns - who love fitness and love coaching just as much; maybe more. We run large group sessions and more intimate Small Group Personal Training (SGPT) sessions, and we're looking for someone who sees that and knows they can make an impact. Someone who knows they have the skills, drive, and ability to coach our members in those ways to become stronger and better. Also, someone who knows coaching is about the clients and what they can do; not what we, the coaches, can do.

Our current open coaching positions are for mornings as well afternoons/evenings, as well as some weekends. However, this opportunity is really for someone who not only wants to coach, but who wants to grow. We are not where we were when we first started, and in the coming years, we certainly won't be where we are now. This opportunity is best suited for someone who wants to be a part of that growth; someone with multiple skill sets, and someone who can wear multiple hats... and enjoys it, even if one of them is the clean-the-bathroom hat (sorry, but it will likely happen). The point is, for a coaching rock star who joins our team, there will be plenty of opportunities and we need someone who wants them.

This position will have a daily coaching shift of approximately 3.5 - 5 hours and between 12-20+ hours per week, depending on day of week and potential administrative responsibilities.

Compensation is determined in consideration of experience and certification, and ranges from $29-

$38 per hour.

All new coaching positions with Village Fitness start with our coaching "internship" and onboarding program. The word internship doesn't always go over well for coaches with some experience, so think of it as a "dating period" of sorts. You get to know us, we get to know you, and so on. This internship is a paid role and requires 60-80+ hours of participation, shadowing and coaching work. This is the first step to all coaching positions with Village Fitness and again, its designed to give each individual the opportunity to better understand how we do things - our systems, ways of operating, and our culture, to help evaluate whether we are a good fit for you. Additionally, we also use this period to get to know you better and work with you to understand if you're a good fit for us and our community. We have team rules that we use internally, one of which is Protect the Team, so yes, we're on the lookout for great coaches to join us, but it's important - crucial - that it's a mutually good fit, so we treat it that way. This initial period is an important and valuable way for both sides to evaluate our mutual fit together

Our Mission and Values

Our mission is simple: we want to make our members and our community stronger, healthier, and happier.

We believe that progress is happiness, so we strive for that - progress. That's why it's our first core value.

Our core values are progress, dependability, personalization, and fun. Our members, our team, and our community can depend on us - on our knowledge and our workouts; that we will be here for them as we say we will, bringing our absolute best, every single day. We will challenge ourselves, just like we challenge our members, to improve and get better through continuing education and learning. Our studio is personal, too. It's everyone's third place - that place outside of work and home where people can come and other people know their name and are happy to see them. They aren't just nameless, faceless people; rather, it's Mrs. Jones and we know Mrs. Jones can squat more weight today than she did last week, so we're going to guide her toward that.

Oh, and you can definitely tell which coach is leading the session based solely on which music is playing - you hear Tupac, Nelly, and Outkast? Yeah, Chris is there. Sabrina Carpenter? T-Swift? Whitney?

Betcha Katie is coaching. Fall Out Boy, Nickleback? Keep an eye out for Geramey. The point is, while we deliver great workouts and results, we're having a damn good time doing it :) Besides, we're wearing T-shirts and sweatpants to work. If we aren't having fun, we're absolutely doing it wrong.

Our Ideal Candidate

As much as anything, we're looking for someone who really wants to build a career in the fitness industry.

Someone who wants to grow and develop not only their coaching skills and abilities, but their overall skills and abilities.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:

At least 1+ years of experience with large and small group training sessions

CERTIFICATIONS:

Current, nationally accredited CPT (ACE, NASM, ISSA, CSCS, CFSC)

Current, CPR/AED certification

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

This role begins and ends with coaching. Each day, bringing your best and being ready to change peoples' lives through your coaching and our workouts. Responsibilities for each shift include but are not limited to:

Scheduled large group sessions

Scheduled SGPT sessions

Inclusion in our Saturday coaching and workshop rotation

Providing a welcoming and inclusive environment to all

Conducting introductory 1-on-1 sessions with new members, as needed

Attending team and 1:1 meetings

Program design for large and small group sessions

Participation in community events - Vino in the Village, Summerfest, Winterfest, happy hours,

Spartan Races, etc.

Baseline administrative duties (check email, log training sessions into Kilo, fill out any needed/applicable reports, etc)

Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the studio

Skills Required (besides "training")

People skills are paramount (in person, verbal, and written)

Basic technology skills (we use the G-Suite in various ways, as well as Mindbody CRM).

Communication - someone who can communicate clearly and reliably, via text, email, phone, or video.

Dependability - if you're on the team, we're all counting on you in one way or another.

Customer service

Flexibility and adaptability - comfortable changing things on the fly, working on your own AND with others, and comfortable with ambiguity

Attention to detail

Time management and punctuality - be on time.

Values Alignment

The job is to help people make PROGRESS.

That is what it's all about. Progress is happiness. We help people make progress toward their fitness goals. We're either getting better or worse; nobody is staying the same. We are curious. We are persistent. We are optimistic. We are open-minded. We are resourceful.

You must strive to always do what you say you will do. If you make a commitment, live up to it.

Always. We are timely and believe showing up and showing up ON TIME shows that we actually respect the people we're working with and our mutual commitment. We are responsive. When we're DEPENDABLE, we respond to requests as soon as possible. We are organized. We are accountable. We follow up, rather than leave things to chance. We are consistent and reliable in all that we do.

Have some dang FUN. This is the lifeblood of what we do. If we (us as the coaching team, and, of course, the clients) do not enjoy what we're doing, then we will not be as successful as we can be. We are outgoing and high in social energy, and we are emotionally stable, striving to experience and create positive emotional states

Software Skills Preferred

G-Suite (Google docs, sheets, slides, forms)

G-Mail

Google Voice

Fill out our initial application questionnaire and email a cover letter and resume as a single PDF to geramey@villagefitnessseattle.com.
