Medical Childcare Assistant (PRN - Flexible Hours)

Join Child Serve as a Medical Childcare Assistant and contribute to the great life of children and young adults by supporting their health, growth, and skill development. In this role, you will provide care and assist with treatment services outlined in each child’s individualized care plan. You will also collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of nurses and therapists to promote each child’s development and skill retention.   About Child Serve ’s Medical Childcare Program:   Child Serve ’s Medical Childcare program provides specialized weekday care for children and teens with significant medical needs and developmental delays, offering a uniquely integrated model of nursing, education, and therapy. Our program is staffed by specially trained caregivers who work alongside nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists to deliver individualized treatment plans built into the day—allowing families to spend time together after work and school, rather than managing multiple appointments. Child-centered and goal-driven, our program helps children build self-confidence, social competence and life skills in a safe, inspiring environment.     Schedule and Location   This position is located at our NEW Des Moines location! 1750 48th Street Des Moines, IA   Flexible hours, with a high need for availability between 3-6 PM. Our center is open Monday-Friday between 7 AM and 6 PM.     How You’ll Make an Impact   Support children and young adults in developing and maintaining skills that promote greater independence. Provide care and treatment according to individualized care plans, including nursing, therapy, and behavior support within scope of practice. Create a safe, therapeutic, and engaging environment that encourages growth and well-being. Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with nurses, therapists, families, schools, and team members to ensure continuity of care. Follow established procedures and perform additional duties as assigned to support program goals.     What You’ll Need:   Preferred: Experience working with children with special healthcare needs. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs., move throughout classroom and playground areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand. Must pass the Iowa DCI child and adult abuse and criminal background checks prior to hire and every two years thereafter, and complete the child abuse affidavit. Must also pass the National FBI criminal background check. Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking English. Not sure if y ou hit 100% of the position expectations?
