Media Senior Marketing Manager, Rare Disease

What you will do

In this vital role you will be responsible for leading the planning and implementation of all media and media partnerships, critical to commercial success of Amgen’s Oncology brands. The media lead will support both consumer (DTC) and professionally-targeted (HCP) media strategies, investments and measurement. Critical to the role will be developing and evangelizing an in-depth understanding of the core targets, and extensive knowledge of the DTC and HCP media landscapes, both traditional and emerging.

The Senior Manager of Media will report into the Associate Director, US Media of Rare Disease and will partner heavily with internal and external cross-functional partners and be responsible for leading and managing our media agencies.

  • Support the development and implementation of innovative, powerful multi-channel media plans, including strategic partnerships with critical media outlets.

  • Lead development of brand media briefs in partnership with brand teams.

  • Manage all elements of brand media plans, including leading the agency to develop annual and in-year plans, that meets agreed objectives, tracking weekly, monthly and quarterly critical metrics and ensuring delivery on budget.

  • Work across the RDBU portfolio, in partnership with the GCC Media Team, brand teams and agency, to optimize the portfolio media strategy, targeting and tactical brand plans to drive synergies, effectiveness and efficiencies.

  • Lead strategic development and realization of media partnerships, improving return on investment, value and performance.

  • Uncover insights to drive continuous optimization of media plans based on metrics, and ensure findings are shared and applied across brands.

  • Leadership of media agency to hold them accountable to the highest standards of performance.

  • In partnership with CD&A, develop and track metrics for media mix and media effectiveness, while linking to the KPIs and broader success metrics of the brand.

  • Be the brand liaison and key support to Corporate advocacy, Patient advocacy and SciComm.

  • Implement test and learns to support marketing innovation in media.

  • Enhance processes to improve the way we operate with our media agency and deliver reporting, financials, and best practices for the brands.

  • Drive media training initiatives to help upskill within the organization.

  • Onboard new media partners on the Amgen processes.

  • Support key GCC Media Enterprise projects and contribute to the future evolution of GCC Media

  • Lead project management initiatives on new media assignments

  • Attend external and internal training/conferences and share insights with GCC Team

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of client-side marketing/media and/or Agency Media

Or

Master’s degree and 4 years of client-side marketing/media and/or Agency Media experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of client-side marketing/media and/or Agency Media experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 10 years of client-side marketing/media and/or Agency Media experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of client-side marketing/media and/or Agency Media experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep HCP/DTC Marketing/Media Experience

  • Technical competencies: Media targeting and segmentation, Multi-channel and Omni-Channel media plan development, media measurement/optimization, and agency leadership

  • Expertise in DTC media planning and deliveries for traditional/linear/TV as well as digital channels

  • Deep Experience designing and implementing HCP-targeted media efforts, including NPP activation of target lists, Third Party Agreements (TPA) management, omnichannel integration, data leads and alert targeted HCP programs, custom programs, EHR, Display, Programmatic, SEM and SEO, etc.

  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to uncover insights from performance/measurement tracking to drive action that increases brand impact

  • Strong ability in both proactively leading cross-functional teams, and in being a member of a cross-functional team

  • Strong communication effectiveness: The ability to optimally empower, effectively engage, connect, and influence senior management and marketing organizations

  • Ability to explain complex details in concise and clear ways to drive team member alignment

  • Ability to translate and communicate sophisticated, complex information/strategies into simple and impactful executional media plans

  • Experience working within creative and/or media agencies

  • Preferred experience working in rare disease and/or therapeutic areas with small patient/customer audience sizes

  • Pharmaceutical marketing experience

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Experience working across multiple agencies and media channels

  • Multi-tasking abilities to work across multiple brands with multiple indications and target audiences

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
