IBM i Security Analyst

As an IBM i Security Analyst, you will make an impact by leading the design, implementation, and governance of security controls across our IBMi/Power Systems environment. You will be a valued member of the Cyber security team and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in securing IBM i (Power Systems) environments.

  • Lead security initiatives including SIEM integration, OS upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and implementation of enterprise security standards.

  • Develop and enforce IBM i security architecture across multiple business units.

  • Drive automation of compliance reporting and evidence collection processes.

  • Evaluate and recommend new security tools and technologies tailored to IBM i environments.

  • Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., Enforcive, Compliance Monitor, PowerTech) to support audits and incident investigations.

  • Collaborate with audit and compliance teams to interpret regulatory requirements and implement effective security controls.

  • Act as a key escalation point for complex IBM i security incidents.

  • Contribute to enterprise-wide security strategy and governance discussions.

What you need to have to be considered:

  • 5+ years of experience in IBM i (Power Systems) administration.

  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity practices, including system hardening, access control, and audit logging.

  • Experience with firewall rule and policy compliance, governance, and enforcement.

  • Proven track record managing certifications and compliance audits.

  • Strong understanding of encryption protocols, secure communications, and certificate management in IBM i environments.

  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001 (ISMS), ISO 31000 (Risk Management), HITRUST CSF, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and SOC Type 1/2.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional security initiatives.

  • Strong auditing skills and ability to independently manage risk assessments and security projects.

  • Proficiency in scripting or automation (e.g., CL, SQL, Python, or shell scripting) for security monitoring and remediation.

These will help you stand out:

  • Experience working with compliance frameworks such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and ARC-AMPE.

  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Lead Auditor are preferred.

  • Experience integrating IBM i systems with enterprise SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, SIEM4).

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and secure CI/CD pipelines for IBM i applications.

  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability management tools and processes specific to Power Systems.

  • Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture principles and their application to legacy systems.

Salary and Other Compensation :

The annual salary for this position is between $ 115,000 - $ 130,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
