This is a 3 month internship opportunity.This position will develop a basic understanding of the skills, knowledge, and techniques required to become a Health Care Data Analyst at Mosaic Community Health. This will be accomplished through close supervision and frequent collaboration with Value Improvement team members, working on tasks and projects of various topics, data sources, and complexity.Data Management Understanding data sources, information architecture, and documentation workflows.Coordinating with external partners to ensure secure, reliable and accurate data file transmission.Maintaining procedures for accommodating new data sources, including processing, cleaning, merging, validating, and storing.Report and Dashboard Updating Following established data workflows to update existing clinical and operational reports and dashboards.Ensuring timely delivery of reports and analyses to proper recipients both internal and external.Keeping reports up to date to reflect organizational changes (e.g., staffing, provider moves) and metric changes.Conducting thorough data QA to ensure resulting statistics are valid.Data Analysis Adjusting and testing performance metrics, ensuring validity.Adjusting and maintaining performance measurement dashboards.Conducting analytic tasks and developing basic data visualizations to promote efficient knowledge acquisition by customers.Working with management and senior analysts to identify appropriate analytical and statistical approaches to answer business intelligence questions.Education and Advising Developing familiarity with data communication best practices and applying principles in developing dashboards and other reporting tools.Using data to assist improvement teams in evaluating performance.Assisting with interpretation of business intelligence for monitoring organizational performance.Presenting summaries of trends in writing, graphically, and orally.Work Experience: One year of relevant experience. Prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with healthcare software products such as immunization registries, electronic medical records, disease registries and practice management systems preferred.Education, certification and licensure: High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree (AA/AS) in computer science, math, healthcare, or related field preferred. Equivalent training, continuing education, and/or experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Preferred Skills & Knowledge: Experience developing spreadsheets, custom charts, referential dashboards, and advanced formulas. Familiarity with relational databases and good data hygiene practices. Experience with modern data visualization techniques and software (preferably Tableau). Experience with data cleaning and manipulation (Alteryx, Knime, RapidMiner). Experience presenting data using presentation software such as PowerPoint. Familiar with standard project management techniques. Experience customizing intranet web pages. Familiarity with survey research methods. Familiarity with public health/epidemiological concepts and methods.
