Heavy Equipment Operator / Laborer — Land Improvement & Site Work

Foote Cattle Company | Bucyrus, KS

Foote Cattle Company, based in Bucyrus, Kansas, is a diversified cattle, farming, and ranching operation with projects across eastern Kansas and the surrounding region. In addition to our livestock and agricultural operations, we perform extensive land improvement, site development, and construction work on company-owned properties. We are a family-owned business known for long-term stability, modern equipment, and a strong team culture.

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This is a hands-on position — not just sitting in a cab. What You’ll Do

  • Operate heavy equipment including excavators, skid steers, dozers, scrapers, and dump trucks
  • Perform land improvement work such as tree clearing, drainage installation, tile lines, terrace construction, and site preparation
  • Assist with grading, dirt work, erosion control, and drainage projects
  • Load, haul, and move materials safely and efficiently
  • Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs
  • Assist with ground labor and physically demanding tasks as needed
  • Work independently or as part of a small crew to complete projects on schedule
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience operating heavy equipment in construction, agriculture, excavation, or land improvement work
  • Ability to read site plans, grade stakes, and basic project specifications
  • Strong work ethic and reliability — shows up ready to work
  • Safety-minded with attention to detail
  • Physically capable of labor-intensive outdoor work in all conditions
  • Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment service and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CDL preferred but not required
What We Offer
  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Full benefits package including health, dental, life insurance, and 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Stable, year-round employment (not seasonal)
  • Variety of projects across a large operation — no repetitive jobsite work
  • Company-provided lunches for field crews
  • Family-oriented culture with many long-term employees
  • Opportunity to grow with a well-established, reputable company
