The Dermatology Medical Assistant facilitates the efficient operation of the assigned department by performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) while performing all duties. 
  • Welcoming patients.
  • Taking medical histories. 
  • Prepares patients for examination.
  • Maintains governmental procedures of iPledge for Accutane patients
  • Responds to phone calls and emails regarding biopsy results and medication refills
  • Assisting the physician during an examination.
  • Performing basic laboratory tests. 
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all clientele. 
  • Provides and promotes a high level of customer service to internal as well as external clientele.
  • Schedules patients for procedures and returns patient calls.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and adheres to the Cooper purpose and core values. 
  • Adheres to all Clinic policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Attends work in a consistent and timely manner. Must be present on-site to perform the duties of this position.
  • Accomplishes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Possess organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in group setting as well as work independently. 
  • Good computer skills and proficiency with Electronic Health Records.

Education and/or Experience 

  • CMA or completion of Medical Assistant program
  • General Dermatology and/or Cosmetic Dermatology experience a plus
  • ModMed EMA EMR experience a plus
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training
