Requirements:

  • Uncrating furniture
  • Loading and unloading trucks
  • Deliver furniture into customer's homes;
  • Assemble furniture in customer's homes;
  • Maintain the back of the truck and keep the area clean.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to learn and adhere to company policies/procedures;
  • Ability to bend, stoop, stand, kneel, lift, move, carry, and load furniture of various sizes and weights ( up to 350 lbs. with a partner or using a dolly)
  • Ability to read a mapsco or other related document;
  • Customer Service oriented – must demonstrate a polite, friendly, and courteous attitude with the customers at all times;
  • Must be able to work as a team player and communicate effectively with the driver and other team members;
  • Must present a well-groomed and neat appearance.

Responsibilities:

  • Must practice safe and proper lifting techniques as instructed by the driver and/or supervisor;
  • Ensures the furniture is tied securely in the back of the truck after each stop, before leaving for the next stop;
  • Must be alert at all times - is responsible to communicate various traffic conditions and assist the driver in navigating stops, safe backing, etc.;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • The driver’s helper will spend 7 ½ to 8 hours per day loading and unloading furniture in indoor and outdoor weather conditions;
  • He/she will constantly climb up and down stairs carrying heavy furniture;.
  • He/she will climb into and out of the back of the delivery truck, positioning & tying off furniture, bending and folding pads;
  • The driver’s helper must be able to bend, stoop, stand, kneel, lift, move, carry, and load furniture of various sizes and weights ( up to 350 lbs. with a partner or using a dolly).
  • Successful candidates may be eligible for additional incentives based on performance.
