Community Health Worker

Job Summary

WellBeing Nigeria is seeking compassionate and dedicated Community Health Workers (CHWs) to serve as vital links between local communities and healthcare services. As a CHW, you will provide preventive, promotive, and basic healthcare support, educate community members on health practices, and assist in improving overall community wellness. This role is critical in bridging gaps in healthcare access, especially in underserved areas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct home visits and community outreach to identify health needs and provide support.
  • Educate community members on hygiene, nutrition, maternal and child health, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Assist in monitoring chronic conditions, vaccination drives, and other public health programs.
  • Serve as a liaison between healthcare providers, government agencies, and the local population.
  • Maintain accurate records of health interventions, patient follow-ups, and community health reports.
  • Participate in health promotion campaigns and community events.
  • Identify and refer cases requiring medical attention to healthcare facilities.
  • Support emergency response efforts and health-related data collection.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; additional certification in community health or public health is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse community groups.
  • Knowledge of basic healthcare principles and preventive health measures.
  • Ability to educate and counsel individuals and families effectively.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and reporting.
  • Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and dedication to community service.

Experience

  • Prior experience in community health, public health, social work, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Volunteer experience in health outreach programs or NGOs is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Full-time or part-time positions available.
  • Flexible hours, including occasional weekends or evenings for community events.
  • Some travel within the community may be required.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
