B.Yond Homes have an excellent opportunity for an Architectural Designer to join their Design and Planning team in Forest Row, East Sussex.

Job Purpose

You will work as an integral part of the Design and Planning team based in Forest Row, East Sussex. This team is responsible for optimising land development opportunities and undertaking the full architectural design process for new-build residential schemes. B.Yond Homes convert these opportunities into quality places where people choose to live.

As Architectural Designer you will be involved in producing layouts and house design drawings using CAD software and manual drawing techniques. You will have the creativity to shape innovative and unique designs whilst ensuring that all layouts and drawings are compliant with industry codes and legal standards.

You will be communicating with external consultants who support the application design process, prepare technical reports and Design and Access Statements (DAS) to support planning applications. Together, with the preparation of presentation material to Parish Councils and other Stakeholder organisations for public exhibitions and pre application meetings. You will be seeing the design development process through to the compilation of packages for submission of residential development application proposals to Local Planning Authorities.

You will work closely with all members of the Design and Planning team and you will be involved with all stages of the design process from pre planning through to the submission of applications and ultimate decision by the Local Planning Authority. Working closely with the In house Architect you will develop presentation material, drawing by hand and in electronic media, for layouts, house designs, street scenes and brochures amongst other documents.

The position would be offered on a hybrid working with the ability to work from home 1 - 2 days per week.

This is a varied and challenging role that will provide the successful candidate with excellent opportunities for onward development/progression

Experience Required

The preferred candidate will ideally hold an architectural degree (Min Part I / Part II) and have previous residential design post qualification experience, although candidates with demonstrable experience in a similar role without a professional qualification or currently studying towards one will also be strongly considered.

You will be a highly creative individual with good spatial design awareness with previous experience working with a residential developer (housebuilder) and/or architectural team.

You will have the ability to prepare architectural drawings, by hand and electronically in AutoCAD and Photoshop and/or InDesign. Some 3D modelling experience would also be beneficial.

In addition, you will have excellent knowledge of planning policy including supplementary planning documents (SPD), such as inclusive design and access, along with a good understanding of building regulations and other regulatory requirements.
